God grant me a goddamn ferocious, screamingly unique injection of the glorious, unstoppably beautiful style/funk/true love/sex appeal/unadulterated force of talent that so dazzlingly poured forth from every pore and wink and eyelash of the newly late and heartbreakingly great Prince Rogers Nelson, AKA Prince.
I don’t believe in Twitter but I go look at it specifically to read what Andrew WK has to say. I think hes a modern philosopher genius. I really don’t give a flying flip what anyone thinks of me for thinking that. When you put his tweets together, they make one of the best books I’ve read in my life.
Life can be intense, frightening and painful. It’s OK to be overwhelmed by it. No one really has any idea what’s going on and everything is absurd. Everything. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth celebrating. Go into today with a totally focused and positive attitude and see what happens. You don’t have to feel happy all the time to be positive. The most important and valuable possession you have in this whole world is your spirit. Look at the sky and realize how small we are. Then look at the ground and realize how big we are. Then party!!
Now go read it:
“I don’t understand people who believe that if you ignore something, it’ll go away. That’s completely wrong — if it’s ignored it gathers strength. Europe ignored Hitler for 20 years. As a result he slaughtered a quarter of the world!” –
“loud, fast, city, raucous, arrogant, paranoid, speed-freak rock n roll. It will be so loud that if we move in next door to you, your lawn will die.”
“As you go through life’s rich tapestry, you realize that most people you meet aren’t fit to shine your shoes. It’s a sad fact, but it’s true. A good friend is someone who’d hide you if you were on the run for murder. How many of them do you know?”
“This entire generation seems to have become pussies, you know? Nobody seems to enjoy themselves much anymore. They are all knocking each other down for enjoying themselves.”
“Death is an inevitability, isn’t it? You become more aware of that when you get to my age. I don’t worry about it. I’m ready for it. When I go, I want to go doing what I do best. If I died tomorrow, I couldn’t complain. It’s been good.”
